The second day in Madrid, after our fun visit to the Warner Brother Theme Park , we bought our tickets for the city tour Hop On & Hop Off buses, the best way to cover the city at your own leisure.
We started our day with McDonalds Special vegetarian order.
The bus ticket was around 25 euros each and definitely value for money.
You get a little guide book and map for the two different tour routes and red earphones (my favorite thing during the tour) to plug into the bus while on the move. The recorded history of the city pours into your ears as you move from one spot to another.
There are 2 routes that the bus follows, showing you the new city and the old Madrid.
On our way we came across a beautiful European Church and could not resist entering it.
You will easily take about an entire day to cover all the spots, finish your shopping, meals and get into some of the famous tourist museums. While we were on our way to lunch, we came across a food festival in the middle of the town.
Though we could not taste most things, it was a visual treat. The exotic looking octopus made our day!
For lunch we entered an Italian restaurant named Malatesta for some pizza and wine. The eatery was simply amazing.
After lunch, we walked around and among museums we chose the Royal Palace since it looked grand.
The stories came alive as we walked through each room of the palace, entered the palatial kitchen and medicine room and the beautiful backyard. The entry ticket for this tour was 9 euros each and by evening there was a long queue to enter.
Probably because we went on a Wednesday and this day of the week gets the European citizens free entry to the museum.
The weather was beautiful, self descriptive in the pictures. Cloudy, pleasant and by night it got chilly.
Finally, we ended our day at Sol Park, a famous casino. Oh, we also even won 20 euros. Beginners Luck.
