Baan Tao, Hyatt Pune is the signature restaurant of Hyatt group of hotels which serves Oriental Cuisine including Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese. Big fans of Chinese and Thai food that we are, dinner at Baan Tao was imperative and we were looking forward to an exquisite and savory experience. And, indeed it was!
The restaurant is definitely with one of the largest seating capacity in Pune. They have seating space catering to the needs of all type of gatherings. You can go there for a family dinner, on a romantic date or even for a corporate dinner with colleagues.
The moment you enter Baan Tao, the spectacular waterfall, full length of a wall and life sized Pineapple figurines go unnoticeable. They recreate a magical ambiance and the feeling of a serene setting. There is also a little chinese tea counter and a huge Celadon placed at the entrance of indoor seating.
We were served the mouth watering chef special menu and literally couldn’t stop eating till we could take no more.
Crystal Chive Dumplings and Batter fried vegetable with Konjeenaro
Dumplings are signature here. You have them once and you will come back to Baan Tao again and again. Perfectly cooked vegetables enveloped in a super soft and flavorsome shell together will melt into your mouth relishing the taste buds. I usually hate dumplings for the under cooked and sticky shell but Baan Tao has changed my opinion for sure.
Just aptly crispy and soft batter fried vegetables tossed in Konjeenaro sauce added Chinese flavour to the dish
This preparation is very similar to the Japanese Tempura, so if you like Tempura do not miss this.
Vietnamese fried chicken with lemongrass & chilly & Stir fried mix veg e sweet chilly, garlic and holy basil.
Bite sized boneless pieces with a subtle flavor of lemongrass and an overpowering taste of a blend of sauces.
And there was Chinese tea too.
Spicy Raw Papaya Salad
A street food in Thailand, this was an appetizing dish which gives your tongue a kick of lime and spice.
This salad is made from shredded unripe papaya best paired with Red Wine for maximum taste.
Tom Yum Veg and Chicken Soup
This soup is almost a little meal put together in a bowl.
We found the preparation a little too heavy for a soup but nevertheless the taste appetizing.
Double cooked fish e Qing Nai Honey Sauce
With Thai Curry and Sticky Rice, ‘Basa’ fish in bursting with flavors of sweet and sour was a highlight of the evening.
Stir Fried Morning Glory with Yellow Bean Sauce and Garlic
A rare dish with a veggie veggie you find only in Kolkata, said Anthony, the head chef of Hyatt Pune.
Morning glory is highly nutritious and has a very unique and exotic flavor. Do try it for a change of taste.
And the dinner ended with a beautiful set of deserts including in house made coconut ice-cream (did someone tell them it was my favorite flavor), Ice Kachang with sea coconut and Lemongrass Panacotta.
Coincidentally we went for an early dinner which turned out to be a good idea as we took all our time to enjoy the food.
So while planning your visit to Baan Tao, schedule it accordingly.
