Our road trip to Jodhpur was royal.
We then continued on the highway towards Manvar – the desert camp, to join a group of friends.
A sophisticated version of Jaisalmer and closer to Jodh, Manvar was a beautiful experience.
Manvar has both resorts and desert tents.
Since we chose to stay in the resort rooms, we booked our desert safari prior to starting one.
Though it is about Rs. 7000 for a couple, it is worth every penny.
The rooms have adorable names. Ours was Chirmi.
Surprised to see such luxurious well maintained rooms with traditional restroom setting and a seating area outside, I instantly geared to spending a great time here.
After a quick shower and lunch, we headed to the dessert.
The safari is quite a show – especially when you don’t know whats coming.
Little did we know, the dessert is going to be such an adventure.
The sand dune slides made me jumpy in my tummy.
Amidst the dessert, we walked up to the village houses.
Dusty, charcoal lit houses were so photogenic, we could not stop clicking.
The pets live a fab life.
This guy loved the camera.
Soon, we were back on the jeep.
The wind on our face and sudden slides of the dessert cracked us up.
Before the sunset, we hopped on to camel backs and rode like traders of the far east land.
Off we went
On the handsome fellow.
Witnessing golden sunset on the way.
Soon after, we settled for our evening show – a dance performance and display of rich Rajasthani cultural folk.
Drinks and snacks were served.
We were the kings and queens that night.
The tents are pretty awesome too.
And the bar was set.
Once the performances start, it difficult to take your eyes off.
They are marvelous.
The best time to visit Manvar is when the weather is chilly.
We got back to the resort late night, wrapped in blankets and everything else we could grab.
Next morning, we were pampered by the resort staff who made our breakfast fresh and hot.
Early mornings are simply charming.
The boys pulled off a DDLJ there.
We were ready to leave by afternoon.
Too chilly to get in, we stopped by the pool to admire it before heading back to Jodhpur.
