Rome is a modern day fairytale city where stories of the past and fashionistas of today co-exist.
We balanced off being tourists with an adventurous walk across the city.
Quaint little street cafes & tall trees accompanied on this walk.
After our trip to the Colloseum on the previous day, Roma pass gave us the opportunity to take any bus or train to any destination within 3 days of our stay. For a few couple of hundered euros, this couple pass took us to the most unexplored streets.
Most of the structures of old Rome are placed in a single curve from Termini, all within walking distance.
National museum, Trevi fountain, Spanish stairs and the well numbered plazas are a stone throw away from each other.
We were so smitten by these structures.
And this is only a slice of Rome.
Take a breather at every point; we carried a phone with local sim and got all our information on Google.
A phone guide is so much more detailed.
We then decided to take the metro to a station called EUR Palasport. It had become cloudy by evening. The sky looked like a potboiler.
The rain was short-lived though, giving us more time for the walk.
and then emerged a RAINBOW!
…lasting quite a while.
While doting on the rainbow, we sipped on some coco water.
By the time the sun shone back, it was dinner time
Walking in Rome with a map and hopping city buses to areas on the other side of tourist overhauls is a great idea. Simply get lost at the end of the day and then find your way back to the hotel. This in itself is a great cultural experience.
We took joy in asking around for directions + navigating the maps & metros.
