All over Germany & rest of the European world, Christmas markets are a big thing. The glitter on the Christmas trees, cookies and cakes, fairies and clauses are all found in one place.
Since these guys are big on wine during Christmas, tons of varieties line up.
Though most markets shut by 23rd/24th December, Salzburg is high on spirits till the 27th December.
No wonder, the Salzburg Christmas is the best place to catch up and have a little street party.
If you try and resist shopping here, it haunts you in the night.
So we splurged.
On Polar cub angel dolls, the dream catcher, fragrances, cookies and food.
Everyone wore their best clothes and sat pretty.
And then we tucked away in a corner to binge on potato fries and chug gluh wein.
We were in no mood to go back to the hotel, so we wheeled away to Waldklang, the winter market straight after.
Which literally translates to Jungle sounds.
At entrance, the dazzle was overwhelming. Deep in the forests, a little outside the city was this place done up spectacularly.
In the dead silence of the jungle, the beats got louder as we walked in.
Bonfires were set up, stalls of horns and charms resting & a bunch of unknown strangers grooving chattering away.
It was a paradise.
After a long walk, we binged on Chicken thai curry & rice and sipped Hot Chocolate by the bonfire.
What a beautiful evening farewell before we left Salzburg the next day.
