Frankfurt is probably the most cosmopolitan city in the world. It fits perfectly well in the center of the map. Chinese, Indian, African, Japanese, French, Italian and several other communities are scattered happily.
Obviously why any kind of cuisine is a stone throw away from home.
Last weekend we went over to Im Herzen Afrikas for Ethiopian cuisine.
A little narrow brick wall sandwiched between grey buildings.
Inside is a sand pit, artistic walls, dim lights, an impressive bar and tables perfect for a romantic date.
Impressive, with a doublet company. We are talking two types of beer.
Muindu & Pembe ~ the Dark beer & Pale ale.
Brewed in house.
We ordered Pembe.
and thanks to the winters, a pot of tea with Orangy flavour.
Read on the menu as Mama Oraba tee.
Accompanied with a 3 minute timer for infusion of the flavours & a sugar stick & a filter & a cup.
A full set of warm fuzzies.
So we waited and looked around.
Im Herzen Afrikas is a great place on Saturday evening. It can easily get you in a mood for clubbing.
The energy of this place is unmatchable.
One pot makes up to 3 full glasses of the Moroccan cup.
When we got to the good menu, it was absolutely non-confusing.
Because, there were exactly 6 dishes each on the non-veg and veg side. Plus a Hummus as the sole starter.
Limited, no-nonsense, great menu.
And we went for the veg mixed platter which is a trial of all the 6 dishes rolled in one big plate.
Bought along with three Injera rolls – an inhouse bread. Imagine a big Dosa rolled up.
So basically, the mixed platter can be arranged for one, two or groups of people and costs 10 euros per person.
The platter keeps getting bigger as the people increase and the rolls double up.
The hummus was insane. Never eaten a better one before.
We also grabbed Dorho – The spicy saucy tomato chicken. Fantastic.
This is pretty much the real highlight of the menu.
There are two desserts on the menu, of which we happily ended our meal with the African Banana Creme.
See how happy it made us.
What a delightful evening.
